New York Pre-Licensing Course

This Pre-Licensing Course meets the DMV requirement to schedule your driving test.
How Does the Course Work?
The course has 6 units and the total instruction time is 270 minutes (4.5 hours). At the end of each unit, you will be required to pass a short multiple-choice quiz. You must get at least a 70% score to pass a unit quiz. You will be given 3 attempts to achieve a passing score and move on with the course. If you fail, re-registration is free. You will also be required to validate your identity throughout the course. Our course uses identity validation questions that are asked at each login and via a phone call in system throughout the course. If you fail three consecutive ID validation questions you will be disqualified from the course. Your completion is automatically sent to the New York DMV. There is no completion certificate. Once your completion is successfully reported, you can schedule your behind the wheel road driving test*. The course must be completed within 30 days from the date the person completes registration.
*It can take 24 to 48 hours for a completion to show up on your record in the New York DMV system.

How does the Online Defensive Driving Course work?
TicketSchool’s Online New York Defensive Driving Course consists of six units and takes approximately five and one-half hours to complete. Unlike traditional classroom courses, our online defensive driving course is available anytime and from anywhere you have internet access. You DO NOT have to be online on a particular day or time, and you can log in and out of the course from any internet enabled device (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.). Once you complete our defensive driving course, an original certificate of completion will be sent to you via the delivery method chosen so that you can turn in the certificate to the appropriate authority (insurance company, court, TLC, etc.). An optional PDF copy is available as an upgrade if needed. We will also report your completion to the New York DMV so that you can receive any eligible point reduction benefits.
